RESET: Etch-a-sketch

re-set

verb

set again or differently. “I must reset the alarm.”

electronics : cause (a binary device) to enter the [ state ] of representing 0.

Remember the Etch-A-Sketch? You know - It’s red, with two little white turn-knobs, and a screen. I call it the original ipad prototype. I was in class one day and I randomly used the Etch-A-Sketch as a metaphor for the mind. That is, there’s this endless doodling that we do all day and at the end, we reset, or, rest. Upon waking up the next day, there’s a kind of renewed sensation that we all have (well, some of us) - akin to hitting the reset button on your video game console. We often feel restored, or refreshed, not unlike the screen of your - uh - Etch-A-Sketch (after a few shakes.) Consider that, while you were sleeping, you were going through the process of [ what I would call ] a homeostatic reset.

At some point, I had come to the stark realization that this moment is all that there is - not before, and not after. The “reset: brand new day” idea-mantra-concept was born out of that reality. So - imagine, for a moment, Waking Up and Realizing that YOU have the full capacity to reset yourself, or, Begin Again, shall we say. Would you choose to be a better version of yourself?

reset: brand new day. No matter who you are, where you come from, or what your particular story is, the time to start anew is NOW.
